In February 2022, San Jose State University (SJSU) announced that its Ginger Market has been transformed into an autonomous retail experience, enabling students, faculty, and staff to grab the items they want and go—without having to scan anything or wait in line to pay. The university worked with Chartwells Higher Education and Standard AI to retrofit the market without ceasing store operations or altering its layout. Standard AI was able to integrate fully with retail operations, including inventory management systems and visual merchandising.
In April 2022, the American Airlines Center announced the opening of two new frictionless food and beverage experiences. The Center opened a new Market To-Go shop on the arena’s Terrace Level with a second location on the Main Concourse of the arena to open shortly after. Powered by autonomous retail technology from Standard AI, the markets are among the first food and beverage destinations at a North American sports venue that fully integrate AI and mobile payments for an autonomous experience.
In June 2022, Standard AI launched its latest autonomous store in collaboration with Compass Group and FLIK Hospitality Group. Customers can easily “check in” using Compass Digital Labs’ Thrive mobile app, which is already used by employees to order their favorite meals, snacks, and drinks at other stores within the pharmaceutical company’s headquarters.
In February 2023, Standard AI announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire leading self-checkout solutions provider, Skip. Standard AI will become the only company to connect self-checkout with AI-powered autonomous checkout into one integrated experience. The powerful combination will give retailers who are seeking immediate relief from labor pains a self-checkout option with a clearly-defined path to an autonomous future. In another first, Standard AI will integrate Skip’s cloud-based point of sale (POS) with the complex back office ecosystem to streamline operations and give greater control over price, discounts, promotions, and more.
In August 2023, Standard AI announced the integration of Google Cloud into its core checkout offerings. Specifically, Standard AI will be leveraging Google Cloud’s powerful Vertex AI suite of tools to bring greater speed and flexibility to our existing portfolio of solutions and bring new products to market to meet ever-changing shopper demands.
