About Syntiant

Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Irvine, Calif., Syntiant Corp. is a leader in delivering hardware and software solutions for edge AI deployment. The company’s purpose-built silicon and hardware-agnostic models are being deployed globally to power edge AI speech, audio, sensor and vision applications across a wide range of consumer and industrial use cases, from earbuds to automobiles. Syntiant’s advanced chip solutions merge deep learning with semiconductor design to produce ultra-low-power, high performance, deep neural network processors. Syntiant also provides compute-efficient software solutions with proprietary model architectures that enable world-leading inference speed and minimized memory footprint across a broad range of processors.

Key Facts

Syntiant offers innovative solutions that seamlessly integrate artificialnintelligence with edge computing, enabling devices to operate faster, smarter, nand more efficiently. Its deep-learning models are designed to be hardware-nagnostic, delivering exceptional performance with minimal memorynrequirements. These models are optimized to run on a variety of hardwarenplatforms, ranging from older CPUs and GPUs to the latest neural accelerators.

With compute-efficient software, Syntiant's technology enhances edge AInapplications by reducing latency, improving privacy, and cutting cloud-relatednoperating costs.

Turnkey Deep Learning Models are available for a wide range of applicationsnand hardware, including vision, audio, and sensing.

The Modeling Platform provides tools for training and deploying highly accurate,nproduction-quality models.

Syntiant’s Neural Decision Processors (NDPs) are optimally designed for edge AI,ndelivering 100x the efficiency, 30x the throughput, and half the size ofntraditional low-power microcontroller units (MCUs) when running the samennetwork.2 These advanced processors provide exceptional performance fornpower-constrained devices, enabling real-time data processing and near-zeronlatency decision-making. Applications range from acoustic event detection innsecurity systems to video processing in teleconferencing, equipping devices withncutting-edge intelligence.

Syntiant operates a B2B model, offering both recurring software services and products, nas well as one-time payment hardware solutions.

In September 2024, Syntiant announced it has signed a definitive agreement tonacquire certain assets of Knowles Corporation’s (NYSE: KN) Consumer MEMSnMicrophones (CMM) business. The acquisition allows Syntiant to provide customers with ancomprehensive turnkey solution for always-on audio and speechnapplications by integrating MEMS microphones with its advanced AInhardware and machine learning capabilities.

Syntiant is acquiring Knowles’ CMM business for $150 million in cash and stock, nfollowing the division's revenue of $256 million in FY 2023 and $136 million in thenfirst half of 2024.

According to Truist Securities, Syntiant projects substantial revenue growth, npotentially reaching $100 million by 2026, representing significant triple-digit growthnover its 2025 forecast. The company expects its federal business to account for asnmuch as 60% of total sales. While Syntiant is not yet profitable, managementnanticipates achieving profitability by CY25.

According to Truist Securities, Syntiant is forecasting revenue growth to $40nmillion in 2025, up from an anticipated $12 million in 2024. This growth isndriven by expansion in both hardware and software/services, withnsignificant opportunities in key markets such as security, defense, nautomotive, and healthcare. Management highlighted the military sector, nwhich accounts for roughly 10% of current sales, as having the highestnpotential for growth.

Truist Securities anticipates that Syntiant will capitalize on the growing adoptionnof AI in ultra-low-power, low-latency applications.

In September 2024, Syntiant announced that it had earned a Memorandum of Successnfrom the U.S. Department of Defense’s (DoD) Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) forncompleting a prototype of a rapidly tunable autonomous sensing capability. Thenachievement involved demonstrating compute-efficient AI-powered automatic targetnrecognition (ATR) with rapid retraining capabilities for unmanned vehicles (UxVs)noperating in disconnected, denied, intermittent, or limited (DDIL) communicationsnenvironments.

In December 2024, Syntiant announced it it had completed the acquisition of Knowles Corporation’s Consumer MEMS Microphones business for $150 million in cash and stock. Knowles’ CMM division generated revenue of approximately $256 million in 2023. “The addition of the Knowles CMM business gives Syntiant a leadership position in the rapidly growing, multibillion-dollar MEMS microphone market, while delivering new solutions that combine cutting-edge sensors, processors and high-performance machine learning models, redefining the future of AI-enabled audio and voice interfaces,” said Kurt Busch, CEO of Syntiant. “As large language models continue to transform industries by enabling advanced natural language understanding and automation, we are accelerating the development of next-generation solutions for autonomous vehicles, smart home devices, industrial automation and beyond. Moreover, this acquisition brings invaluable talent and global customer relationships to Syntiant, reinforcing our ability even further to innovate and scale globally.”
