In April 2022, Zipline announced the launch of Japan's first long-distance commercial drone deliveries. In partnership with Toyota Tsusho Corporation (Toyota Group's trading arm), Zipline flights will carry hundreds of medical supplies to hospitals and pharmacies in Japan's Gotō Islands. Zipline now has operations in Africa, Asia, and North America following this milestone.

In June 2022, Zipline received U.S. Federal Aviation Administration Part 135 air carrier certification to operate in the U.S. Zipline is now authorized to complete the longest range on-demand commercial drone deliveries in the U.S., with operations covering the largest area and greatest distance of any uncrewed commercial aircraft delivery system in the country. This is the first part 135 certification issued under the FAA’s BEYOND program, an initiative designed to safely integrate beyond visual line of sight drone operations into U.S. airspace.

In September 2022, Zipline announced a partnership with Africa-focused e-commerce firm Jumia Technologies to deliver household items to remote areas of Ghana. According to Forbes, in April 2023, Zipline raised 330 million in a new funding round, according to two sources and a filing obtained by Forbes. The funding values Zipline at about $4.2 billion, a 55% increase from its $2.7 billion valuation. In an April 10 filing in Delaware, the company revealed a Series F funding round. The filing also included a Series F-1 extension of up to $20 million that could still be rolled into the round, meaning the exact total raised by Zipline could still fluctuate, according to one of the sources. The filing made no mention of a lead investor. In a statement, Zipline confirmed it had raised new funding. “We recently closed our Series F funding round at an increased valuation, which involved several new and existing investors,” the company wrote. “We are well capitalized to continue to grow our operations, including launching our new home delivery service.”

In September 2023, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) authorized Zipline to make commercial deliveries beyond visual line of sight without visual observers - a milestone the entire industry has worked to achieve for years. This historic decision will help enable broad integration of autonomous aircraft into the U.S. national airspace and make commercial drone delivery scalable and affordable.

In January 2024, Zipline announced that starting later this year, Zipline will integrate its new home delivery solution into Walmart stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area so that it can serve millions of Texans. This expansion will increase the Walmart customers that Zipline serves by more than 1,000x, compared to its current operations with the retailer.
